VIDEO: Unlocking the Cosmos at Griffith ObservatoryVIDEO:

Did you know that Griffith Observatory was never created for research or discovery in the cosmos? It was created to allow the public to learn about and enjoy the stars.

In addition to the Foucault pendulum, the shows in the planetarium, the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theatre, the many exhibits & artifacts inside and outside, Griffith Observatory allows guests to view the stars through its 12″ Zeiss refracting telescope — the original telescope installed at Griffith Observatory in 1935.

More people have viewed the stars through this telescope than any other telescope in the world — Griffith Obervatory is approaching its 9 millionth viewer.

And the best part? It’s free and open to the public on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Each night that the Observatory is open — when the sky is clear — the Zeiss telescop is open from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm (Summer hours may differ).

I recently visited Observatory, and it was awesome! You can watch my video here:
