If you are visiting California, it’s impossible to ignore the vast & beautiful, blue Pacific ocean that extends endlessly to the west.

And the best way to experience sea life is to visit an aquarium.  

Last month, US News & World Report named the 13 Top aquariums in the United States. 

Three are in California.

Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach is one of these three.

I recently visited Aquarium of the Pacific, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the best in the US.  As the name suggests, it focuses on the fish and marine life along the Pacific Ocean.

There are several distinct displays:

• Southern California and Baja
• Northern Pacific
• Tropical Pacific
• Shark Lagoon, which has baby shark and ray petting pools
• Penguin Habitat
• Underwater Sea Lion & Seal Habitat
