House of Gucci Costume Exhibit at FIDM
For one week only, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Museum has an exclusive exhibit of the costumes and photography from the MGM Movie, House of Gucci.
The exhibit was curated by costume designer Janty Yates.
The centerpiece of the exhibit is the beautiful wedding dress.
This suit harken back to the early 60’s, reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy’s fashion style, even though the movie takes place a decade later, in the 1970’s.
These men’s suits, however, completely capture the 70’s, with their brown tones, wide ties, and slightly flared pant legs.
This gorgeous red dress is one of my favorites in the exhibit, although I think they made an unfortunate presentation decision to hide the beautiful neckline with the black, gloved hand holding the face mask.
And this ski suit is going to be an iconic look from the movie.
The 2nd room contained the photo exhibit. Here are a few of the photos on display.
The promotion said that there would also be some never-before-seen film footage, but as far as I could tell, the film was a trailer available on YouTube.
If you’d like to see the museum exhibit, I created a video on my YouTube Channel. You can watch it here:
This exhibit is free. It’s at FIDM Museum at 919 Grant Street in downtown LA until Dec. 4.
From Dec. 5 – 7, it will be at Photografiska in NYC.
